NYATHI IS HONOURED TO OBTAIN CUM LAUDE AND THE DEAN’S MERIT AWARD

Nyathi graduated at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Autumn graduation celebratory on Friday, 15 July 2022.

The commencement of her journey with DUT began in 2018 when she first enrolled for her National Diploma in Accounting and she was conferred with a Cum Laude for her magnificent academic results. Thereafter, she registered for the Advanced Diploma in Accounting. She has always excelled in her academic results, as her accolades speak for itself.

“My family was extremely excited and so proud of my achievement,” Nyathi explained in elation.

The 22-year -old DUT student is originally from Vryheid, but currently resides in Reservoir Hills, Durban. Accounting was indeed her first choice, as she enjoys working with numbers as well as the theory that comes with it, additionally she loves also being able to tackle transactions.

Nyathi explained that every chapter of life requires a different mind-set to remain steadfast to one’s ultimate goal and to persevere through all challenges that come with it. She encountered some personal challenges which she could not disclose though she’s grateful to her mother for her unconditional support as she was able to endure and overcome them. Nyathi also shared that she would love to further her studies and someday become a well-recognised accountant.

She conveyed words of appreciation to her lecturers for always availing themselves, providing mock tests and extra activities to ensure that they understood what was required of them. Nyathi further thanked the tutors as they had contributed towards her academic journey at DUT since 2018, not forgetting her family and friends for their constant support, especially her mother who motivates her all the time. Most importantly, she thanks God for giving her the strength to push on even on days where she felt like giving up.

Her advice to prospective students at DUT is that they must always give it their all, apart from hard work and discipline, they should remember to pray at all times.
