MDUNGE’S ACADEMIC JOURNEY ALLOWS HER TO GROW AS AN INDIVIDUAL

The dynamic, 22-year-old Andiswa Mdunge, who is from Pietermaritzburg in iMbali was thrilled to be counted among the Business and Information Management graduates under the Faculty of Arts and Design who has successfully accomplished his qualification at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Celebratory Autumn Graduation ceremony. She graduated Cum Laude at the session which was held at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg on Monday, 25 July 2022.

“My journey at DUT has not been an easy one but it was full of memories and experiences. Since I registered in 2019 for my Diploma in Business and Information Management, like any other student, I came across many challenges along the way, but I always reminded myself never to give up. I am grateful for all the challenges that I dealt with throughout my journey because through them I managed to grow as an individual,” she commented.

Mdunge initially did not have any knowledge of what a Cum Laude was until becoming a student in 2019.

“I asked my lecturer what is a Cum Laude pass and how can one attain it and this is what inspired me to also work harder so that I could achieve it as well. I started working towards this goal and when I received the news, I was so shocked, surprised, and excited because even though I was working towards this goal I did not expect it to really happen,” she chuckled.

Mdunge confessed that the course that she had pursued was not her first choice of study but her intense love for it started growing. She then realised that this is an interesting course and began thoroughly enjoying it.

Mdunge gave more insight into her academic path, relaying that there were some modules that were difficult to handle. However, when she transitioned from High School to university, she managed to score a 99% for her first test.

“I always strived for 75% and above for my modules. Setting that bar high resulted in these amazing results of accumulating Cum Laude for my Diploma,” she added.

Mdunge is currently studying towards her Advanced Diploma in Business Information and Management.
