“I am thrilled that the Durban University of Technology (DUT) has decided to host a physical graduat

The Durban University of Technology student, Andiswa Bingwa who hails from Carletonville, will be graduating with Cum Laude for the Diploma in Business and Information Management at the Inkosi Albert Convention Centre, ICC for the DUT Autumn Graduation Celebratory on Wednesday, 13 July 2022.

“What an adventure! To begin with, being able to study at the Durban University of Technology is a gift I never take for granted. However, the opportunity came with a great deal of responsibility and dedication. I did not know much coming in as a young lady straight out of High School, but what a wonderful experience it has been. As incredible as the journey has been, there have also been some bittersweet moments and a great deal of devastation. Two things kept me going through it all: a burning passion and a strong desire to obtain practical experience. Thank you so much to all my lecturers for teaching me numerous ways that helped me conquer the varsity edge successfully. I am grateful to have been a part of the DUT community,” said an elated Bingwa.

She said it was indeed a proud moment for her as she was filled with so much gratitude and excitement, her hard work finally paid off.

For Bingwa, one of the challenges she faced was homesickness. She would just wake up missing her mom and her son so much and how she overcame this challenge luckily, would be to video call them every single chance she got.

“Another challenge I faced was time management, I struggled a lot managing my time because I will say I will do something and end up not doing it so a made myself a physical planner which was extremely helpful, assisting me in making daily to-do lists and keeping track of my assignments and courses,” said Bingwa.

She’s tremendously excited that she’ll be able to attend and experience being on stage for the graduation ceremony. Currently she is doing her Advanced Diploma in Business and Information Management and plans to study till she reaches the Master’s Degree level. Her advice to the fellow students is that everything and anything is possible if you put your mind and heart to it.

She also confessed that she would like to be in academia as she is passionate about teaching and learning. In addition, she would like to do research as a postgraduate in anything that has to do with entrepreneurship that will bring about solutions to the high rate of unemployment and thereby contribute to the ailing economy.
